The first impression on driving home was the “quality feel” and controlled movements of the car in terms of road feel. Within 100 meters this could be detected as improved beyond any expectation.

My first and unexpected experience was that of a significantly more comfortable car. This was immediately noticed by my wife who said that the car was more comfortable as a passenger. Not only were the harsh vertical movements gone but the of the rear end in particular was remarkably controlled. Observable on the motorway when changing lanes for example, there was a significant improvement in directional stability.

In addition to the overall ride quality there is feeling of increased control on all four corners of the car particularly at the rear end which approximated the driving experience of the M2 with the RS suspension.

It’s difficult to be objective and I am not a car-tester, but I would judge it to be 80% of the quality of the RS suspension. Clearly the M2 is faster with a wider track and more direct front end. The ACS package is however, significantly improved over the standard set up. So much it really does feel like a different car. I would judge the original BMW units are 50-60% the dynamic quality of the ACS sports units …it is a significant improvement.

Anyone who enjoys spirited driving they really ought to consider changing the suspension units as I have described above. For me, following some research, I am not disappointed as the car is much better to drive and is more controllable nearer the limit and I suspect the package has been very well thought out.

At the very least have a test drive at AC Schnitzer because until you’ve actually sat behind the wheel and noticed a difference in how the car reacts to your inputs with these suspension products - you can’t really tell the difference.

Finally, I am nothing to do with AC Schnitzer, I don’t know anyone there socially and I’ve written this just to inform.
